Our impact

Less waste, more jobs, a more sustainable industry.

What aluminium dross recovery brings, measured by four indicators.

Behind every indicator is a team and an industrial site in Cameroon.

Within the next six months, we plan to develop the recovery of spent carbon potlining and other waste from aluminium production. This will allow us to increase our production capacity, hire around fifty young Cameroonians and play a full part in the green economy and in the economic development of the country and the sub-region.

A second life for used oil

Our future large furnace will run on regenerated used oil. Too often dumped in the open, used oil from engines and industrial machinery pollutes soil and groundwater for years. By making this oil the energy source for our remelting, CGS will put a second waste to work for the first: the metal recovered from aluminium dross will be remelted with oil that would otherwise have ended up in the environment. Carried out in line with Cameroonian regulations on used oil, this approach places CGS even more firmly at the heart of the country’s green and circular economy.

Cameroon

Since 2025

  • 3,682

    tonnes of aluminium dross recovered

  • 1,500

    tonnes of CO₂ avoided

  • 29

    jobs created in Cameroon

  • Since 2025

    in operation in Edea

How we calculate these figures

Tonnes recovered

The quantity of aluminium dross processed by CGS rather than discarded as waste.

Method: sum of the weighings carried out after production since start-up in September 2025; figure as at the end of September 2026.

CO₂ avoided

The CO₂ emissions avoided through recycling, compared with primary aluminium production.

Method: the metal we remelt and return to ALUCAM does not have to be produced again by electrolysis. For each tonne, we count the direct emissions thus avoided, about 1.8 t of CO₂ (a typical value for aluminium electrolysis), minus those of our own melting, 0.15 t. A conservative estimate, as at the end of September 2026.

Jobs

The jobs created by CGS’s activity in Cameroon.

Method: 26 direct jobs (CGS employees) and 3 indirect jobs (subcontracting and transport), as of October 2026.

Years in operation

How long CGS has been operating: the sign of a business built to last.

Starting point: September 2025
